Tips to let go and move on from trauma
It could be that you have lost someone important to you or you were in a ghastly accident. It could even be a nasty breakup. Whatever the traumatic experience was, the first and the most important step to healing is acceptance.
Accepting and acknowledging that the situation occurred is the first thing that you need to do. Here are some tips that could help you to let go.
Stay connected: No matter how comfortable it may seem, self-isolation is very dangerous at this time because your thoughts and emotions are more heightened than they have ever been in your life. Staying connected to family and support systems may just be the trick to help you move on and let go.
Eat properly: It may be hard and staying away from food may seem like the easiest option but it is something that you have to do for yourself. If it is a situation whereby you have lost someone important to you, even they would not want you to feel guilty over having a simple meal. Eating regularly and healthily is important.
Talk to someone: We at EmpathySpace acknowledge that there are times when the pain may just be too much to bear and if at this point you start to feel like harming yourself as a means to get rid of the pain, then we implore you to reach out to us. You are entitled to your feelings and we are here to help.
